Mother Theresa once said, “We cannot do great things on this earth, but we can do small things with great love.”
This sums up the amazing work the Little School families have done this year to make the world a better place for people in need. Under the supervision of Principal Christine Molle and the Community Service Committee, our students made cards for the Veterans, our families created food baskets at Christmas for the North Reading Food Pantry, collected Coats for Kids and participated in Coins for a Cure.
Our final service project was a coin collection for Gathering Change, Inc. This project was taken on by the second graders with the help of fourth graders, Ava Harrington and Gabby Barker.
The students designed posters and participated in an all school meeting lead by Community Service Chairperson Michelle Fabian. Our students learned about the face of hunger in our community and how each of us can make a difference. The assembly culminated with the second graders singing “There’s A Hero.” The students and families of the E.E. Little School raised over $1,670 for Gathering Change Inc., proving... ”We can do small things with great love."
Gathering Change, Inc. is a 501c3 organization that collects spare change and then donates it back to the community to support local food pantries and social programs. For more information, please call 617- 548-5357 or visit their website: www.gatheringchangeinc.org.
