Emma Weiler started the new year off by joining the team at the library as their new youth librarian. The well educated librarian is happy to be working in town and hopes that residents will stop by and introduce themselves.

Originally from Cambridge, Weiler attended Le Moyne College in New York and received her bachelor's degree in history. She also has a master's degree from Tufts in American history.

After getting married and starting a family, she decided to return to school to gain a Master of Library Science in young adult and reference services from the University of Rhode Island. While studying for her third degree, she worked part-time at the Cambridge Public Library for seven years.

After work and taking care of her four children, Anna 16, Justin 14, Abby and Helen 11, she enjoys arts and crafts, quilting, knitting, baking and reading.

Weiler is taking time to explore and still figuring out where things are in town, she said, but happy she chose North Reading.

“It looks nice out here," she said. "Everyone is friendly and the building is really beautiful."

Library Director Helena Minton is pleased to have Weiler as the new youth librarian.

"We are thrilled to have Emma here, at the library. She brings a great deal of energy, enthusiasm, and new ideas -- for all ages," Minton said.
