Police Log: Reading Man Arrested by State Police for OUI

Reading Man Arrested by State Police for OUI

12:00 p.m.—A female Summer Avenue resident called police to report her son had not returned home. Police investigated and discovered that John T. Mitropoulos, 24, of Reading was arrested earlier in the day by state police for operating under the influence of drugs and taken to the South Boston barracks.

8:19 a.m.—Police investigated a two-car motor vehicle crash at Main Street and Apache Pass between a Peabody resident and an individual from South Berwick, Maine. No personal injuries were reported.

9:10 a.m.—A resident of Socorro, N.M., called police to report a possible forgery. The caller stated that he and his wife—who currently resides on Rocky Road in Reading—are going through a divorce, and faxed over paperwork contending his wife forged his signature on the lease to the Rocky Road property.

9:21 a.m.—Police received a call reporting a suspicious vehicle at Ash and Washington Streets left running for 15 minutes. Police located the owner, who stated he forgot the vehicle was running.

9:57 a.m.—A Lakeview Avenue resident reported a suspicious Jeep in the area for around 45 minutes. Police investigated and discovered it was a private investigator working in the area.

11:08 a.m.—A Springvale Road resident came to the police station to report receiving harassing phone calls. The man stated he had received several calls advising him he had won a large sum of money and someone would be coming to his house to give it to him. The complainant indicated he had not entered any contests.

11:30 a.m.—An officer witnessed a minor motor vehicle accident at Main Street and Bethesda Lane with no injuries reported.

1:00 p.m.—Police received a report of a suspicious male walking up and down Auburn Street near Parkview Road and looking in cars. Police located the person in question, who stated he was just waiting for his friend to get out of school.

1:01 p.m.—Police investigated a two-car crash at West and Howard Streets with personal injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No further information is available at this time.

7:04 p.m.—Police discovered two disabled vehicles with damages on West Street, but, as they were actually located in Woburn, the Woburn PD handled the matter.

9:02 p.m.—Police responded to a noise complaint at a Lakeview Avenue apartment and, after speaking with both parties, the matter was resolved.
